About the Farm
Karoo Droom Farm is one of the early Karoo farms found in the Swartberg mountains, home to Seweekspoort, South Africa's only natural poort. Located just off the R323 which links Laingsburg with Ladismith, Karoo Droom is nestled up against the Swartberg with views across the valley to the Elandsberge.
The farm offers a relaxing environment. Situated approximately 1200 m above sea level, it enjoys snowfall during most winters. |
This working farm offers both self catering and wild camping options with lots to experience and see.
There are walking trails on the farm, nearby horse trails, lots of scope for mountain biking or biking into the nearby Seweweekspoort. Birders will have a field day listing our many bird species. Enjoy our beautiful clear night skies and watch the constellations rise and set. |

Karoo Droom Farm is owned by Martin van Heerden, a man who has loved South Africa's beautiful Karoo for many years. Martin grew up on a farm on the other side of the mountain range on the Buffelsdrift side of Ladismith. After many years living in the Boland and working in other industries, when Karoo Droom came onto the market, Martin finally realised his dream of returning to the Karoo and owning his own farm.
Joanita Schoeman is Martin's long term partner, and manages the accommodation as well as the soon-to-be-launched farm shop which will include delicious organic fynbos honey from Karoo Droom's own bee hives, preserves and more. Joanita fell in love with the Karoo as a young girl in 1981 while visiting family who lost their home in Laingsburg during the infamous flood. |
